about the journey

The Fool’s Journey is the story of the 22 major arcana tarot cards, as told by the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot. The Fool sets of on a life journey and each of the major arcana tarot cards represent the different life lessons along the way.

As I embark on this journey, I hope to express myself creatively while healing and inspiring. I hope to use this project as a way to connect with myself, my ancestors, my loved ones, my spirit guides, and all of you.

I'm woodburning all the tarot cards with the goal to one day host a walkthrough art show displaying the entire collection, until then the originals are not for sale.

In the meantime, I'm sending out tarot readings on postcards and will add the cards as I woodburn them.

the post office

My cottage is a place where I'm able to connect with my creativity and the beauty of nature. In 1870, my ancestors came to Canada and ran a Post Office. Years later, I've found myself sending out postcards. Is it a coincidence or destiny?

about the artist

Jewell Dina is a Canadian creative, artist, entrepreneur, and mother. I studied Fashion Arts in Toronto, where I found passion in being a creative director, photostyling, and designing. I have love for the arts, tarot, traveling, fashion, themed events, and anyway I can express myself creatively.

Why Woodburning?

I started woodburning when I was on maternity leave. I needed a creative outlet for myself that wasn't baby related, and woodburning brought me this. Pyrography had a uniqueness to it, unlike other mediums I've tried in the past. Woodburning had an ability to make me more confident in my drawing abilities. There’s something about craving into wood that’s freeing. There’s no room to overthink when it comes to small details and finer lines, you only get one chance to burn into the wood. This takes away the need for perfection and lets you find the beauty in the imperfections. Woodburning, motherhood, and this project has taught me to let go of the need to do everything right and instead embrace what makes you unique.

The Mocking Bird

Hush little baby don't say a word... The Mockingbird was a piece I created while on Maternity Leave. Depicting the mockingbird breaking free from the looking glass, this art piece represents the passing of time and life growth. As we. experience each stage of our lives, from baby to toddler and on, we learn and shatter our self image to make way for new life experiences and promises.

Trapped?

Are you trapped? Or is fear holding you back. Trapped? is an art piece that makes you wonder, do you have what it takes to set yourself free or will the floor crumble below you. When you feel your life is falling apart and you don't have control, remember you have the tools you need and the support it takes to get through it all.

Mirror Mirror

Mirror Mirror who do you see? How other's see you will never match how you see yourself. Mirror Mirror is an art piece reminding you to look within and trust no one knows you better than yourself. You can never truly know what someone else is thinking, instead of catering to what you assume others are expecting of you, its important to know and love yourself.

Sage Solaris

Inspired by my beautiful friend, Sage Solaris reminds you to set yourself free to shine brightest. Sage symbolizes wisdom and strength, while solaris represents the sun and happiness. Sage Solaris flows freely, embracing a life full of joy, protection, and peace.

Wind Whispers

Be still as you feel the wind blow, the answers will be whispered for only you to hear. When the storms over, the wind remains.. telling a story of who you once were and who you will become. Don't be afraid of the cold breeze, the truth knows nothing but warmth.
